We’ve made significant progress toward this vision:
Land Secured: In 2016, we purchased two adjoining 2-acre lots and consolidated them into one 4-acre parcel in 2022.
Permit Approved: In December 2022, the County of Hawaiʻi granted us a special permit to build on our agricultural-zoned property.
Recognized Resilience Hub: As of 2024, ON is proud to be designated a Resilient Hawai‘i Hub.
Community Food Program: Since 2017, our Food Basket Program has provided monthly grocery support to approximately 240 households in partnership with local churches.
Community Safety and Readiness: We support the Orchidland Neighborhood Watch and assist our local Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Funding Secured: We've received support from private foundations, local organizations, and both the State and County of Hawaiʻi.

Ongoing Projects Beyond the Community Center
In addition to planning our community complex, ON continues to:
Distribute food monthly through our Food Basket Program.
Promote safety through the Orchidland Neighborhood Watch.
Enhance emergency readiness with CERT support.
Where We Are Now
We've laid the groundwork—land, permits, and planning are in place. We've also completed a professional cost estimate in 2022, which projected $3.5 million for the full build-out of the community facility. The next step is fundraising and moving toward construction.
What We Still Need
To bring this vision to life, ON continues to seek:
Financial contributions from individuals, organizations, and grants.
In-kind support from contractors, engineers, and planners.
Ongoing community involvement and partnerships to sustain momentum.
